Tri-State G&T's Jeff Selman Elected UTC Chairman of the Board

Austin, TX – Jeffrey Selman, Manager of Telecom and Protection Engineering at the Tri-State Generation & Transmission Association in Denver, CO, was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Utilities Telecom Council today. The election was held during UTC's Annual Membership Meeting, held in conjunction with UTC's annual conference, UTC TELECOM 2007, in Austin, Texas.

Selman held several leadership roles with the UTC prior to being elected including serving as UTC's Vice Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer, and Chairman of UTC’s Rocky Mountain Region. In addition to his role at Tri-State Generation & Transmission Association, Selman is a part time college professor.

Other UTC Officers elected were Jimmy "Rusty" Williams, Manager-Planning & Engineering at Southern Company Services in Birmingham, AL, as Vice Chairman, and Troy West, Manager of Telecommunications at Cleco Corporation in Bunkie, LA, as Secretary/Treasurer. Selman succeeds Joseph Lackey, Telecommunications Supervisor at the Southside Electric Cooperative in Crewe, VA, who served as UTC Chairman for the past year.

"These individuals have an incredible depth of experience and knowledge about the critical information communications technology needs of the entire critical infrastructure industry," noted William R. Moroney, UTC President and CEO. “UTC is very fortunate to attract such dedicated volunteers whose commitment extends far beyond their companies, recognizing the interdependence of all UTC member utilities. These four UTC Officers for 2007-2008 symbolize all the UTC volunteers that give UTC the dynamic leadership we have that makes the organization what it is today. I look forward to working closely with them over the next year.”
